Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs lie inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained wide-ranging medical education with a main focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are taught to manage conditions extending from usual afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which give them the prior experience essential to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet frequently experience.
