Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging healthcare training with a main focus on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to deal with conditions ranging from simple ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the experience required to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
