Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained wide-ranging healthcare training with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage issues ranging from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against a large number of complications which the feet normally experience.
