Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired thorough medical instruction with a focus on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with issues extending from general afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the expertise vital to perform surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent countless complications which the feet normally experience.
