Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing medical instruction with a main focus on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to deal with difficulties extending from conventional ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience essential to perform surgery on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet generally experience.
