Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired substantial medical training with a main focus on conditions involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat problems varying from normal disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to carry out surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
