Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received wide-ranging medical training with an importance on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to care for issues ranging from general afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the skill required to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet generally encounter.
