Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained considerable health care education with a stress on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. They are instructed to care for difficulties ranging from standard conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience needed to conduct surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
