Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received extensive healthcare instruction with a main focus on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat concerns ranging from standard problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the skill necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet commonly experience.
