Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial health care education with a stress on issues involving the feet and ankles. They are taught to address complications extending from usual conditions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the experience crucial to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet typically experience.
