Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have gained comprehensive medical education with a focus on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle concerns stretching from normal problems for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which give them the practical experience essential to conduct surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous issues which the feet regularly encounter.
