Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired significant medical education with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with problems extending from typical disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which give them the experience vital to perform surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
