Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive health care training with a main focus on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to manage problems ranging from normal ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet usually encounter.
