Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in reality various podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing medical training with a focus on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are skilled to manage concerns ranging from general disorders such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which give them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid numerous troubles which the feet usually encounter.
