Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical instruction with a main focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are studied to care for problems stretching from simple conditions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous troubles which the feet normally encounter.
