Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained significant healthcare education with a stress on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are studied to manage problems stretching from normal afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which give them the experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against numerous conditions which the feet routinely experience.
