Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained wide-ranging healthcare training with an emphasis on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to care for issues stretching from usual disorders like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the skill needed to carry out surgery on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet regularly encounter.
