Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing health care education with a focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to treat conditions ranging from regular conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which give them the expertise needed to carry out surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet commonly encounter.
