Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with a focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to handle complications extending from basic ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which give them the practical experience needed to conduct surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
