Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in reality various podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough medical education with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to manage problems stretching from simple ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of issues which the feet normally encounter.
