Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and actually a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant healthcare instruction with an importance on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to care for problems varying from simple problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent a large number of problems which the feet usually experience.
