Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programmes lie within these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial healthcare training with a concentration on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to manage problems ranging from basic ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet routinely experience.
