Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough medical training with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to handle complications extending from simple conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which supply them the prior experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against a large number of troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
