Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote about ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired significant health care instruction with a focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to handle complications extending from typical problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which supply them the experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet normally encounter.
