Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained encompassing medical instruction with an attention to on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle problems ranging from usual conditions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
