Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry training programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive medical training with an importance on issues regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to manage problems stretching from usual ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet normally encounter.
