Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality numerous podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough medical training with a stress on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. They are studied to address problems extending from regular ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which give them the expertise required to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
