Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and actually several podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received significant health care instruction with an emphasis on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems ranging from simple problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which give them the expertise necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet generally encounter.
