Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical education with an importance on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle conditions extending from commonplace conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which supply them the expertise required to execute surgery on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet generally encounter.
