Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained thorough medical instruction with a main focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are taught to address difficulties extending from typical afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which give them the prior experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet frequently encounter.
