Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired encompassing healthcare training with a focus on difficulties regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage problems ranging from usual conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which furnish them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
