Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest about ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial health care training with a concentration on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat problems ranging from usual afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet typically experience.
