Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend an average of ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and actually a number of podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received encompassing medical training with an attention to on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to deal with problems stretching from typical disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the practical experience required to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet generally experience.
