They devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired encompassing medical training with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to address conditions varying from standard problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which provide them the expertise essential to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against countless troubles which the feet normally encounter.
