Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained extensive medical education with an attention to on complications involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to care for issues ranging from usual afflictions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks.
