Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and actually numerous podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough medical instruction with an emphasis on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to address problems ranging from simple ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which provide them the expertise vital to execute surgery on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of complications which the feet routinely encounter.
