Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote approximately ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received encompassing medical training with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are instructed to treat problems stretching from usual conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet regularly encounter.
