Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical instruction with a stress on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to treat problems ranging from familiar ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the expertise required to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet routinely experience.
