Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical education with a focus on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for problems ranging from conventional ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet generally encounter.
