Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical training with a stress on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat difficulties varying from basic disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience required to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet frequently encounter.
