They put in about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive medical training with an emphasis on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat problems stretching from normal disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet usually experience.
