Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest around ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received substantial health care instruction with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are instructed to address conditions stretching from general disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which supply them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous problems which the feet regularly experience.
