Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough healthcare education with an importance on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are qualified to handle concerns ranging from usual afflictions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which give them the practical experience vital to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of countless problems which the feet usually encounter.
