Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality various podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired significant medical training with a focus on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. They are instructed to address problems stretching from general afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which give them the skill required to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet typically experience.
