Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained significant medical training with a stress on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat problems varying from usual ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the practical experience required to perform surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against a large number of conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
