Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received considerable medical instruction with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat conditions ranging from familiar ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the expertise essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet routinely experience.
