Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained comprehensive medical education with a focus on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for concerns ranging from simple afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which supply them the expertise required to conduct surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet commonly encounter.
