Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and numerous podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive medical training with a stress on issues concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to care for conditions stretching from general problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which give them the experience essential to conduct surgery on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of problems which the feet regularly experience.
