Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained thorough healthcare education with a focus on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to care for concerns varying from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which give them the skill vital to execute surgery on those troubles that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against numerous issues which the feet commonly experience.
