Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote around ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and numerous podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive healthcare training with a main focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat conditions ranging from basic afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the practical experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet generally encounter.
